Cancel your contract

When you can cancel your contract

You can cancel your contract at any time – just give us 30 days’ notice that you intend to leave us.

If you cancel within 14 days of taking out the contract, then that's considered a 'cooling off' period and you can cancel without a cancellation fee, providing you haven't exceeded the allowances of your contract.

There will be a £5 charge for our couriers DPD to collect the phone.

If you cancel after the initial 14 days but before the end of your contract, you'll usually have to pay off any time left on your agreement.

Letting us know you want to cancel

The best way to cancel your contract is to contact us via phone or Webchat so our Help Team can close your account down as soon as possible and help organise anything to be returned.

Alternatively, if you'd prefer to write to us, you can print off and fill in our cancellation form and send it to us in the post at:

  • Talkmobile Ltd.
  • Avon House,
  • Horizon West Business Park,
  • Canal View Road,
  • Newbury,
  • Berkshire
  • RG14 5XF

Once we've received your cancellation form, we'll get back to you within 24 hours. If you haven't heard from us within 5 working days of posting it, please get in touch by phone or Webchat.

Returning a phone and getting a refund

If you took out a contract with a phone but have changed your mind, you'll need to return it to us within 14 days of receiving it so we can cancel your agreement. We'll arrange for our couriers, DPD, to pick up the phone at a suitable time and place.

What charges will you incur?

You won't incur any charges for closing down your account within the 14 day cooling off period but there will be a £5 collection fee for returning the phone.

As long as the phone's unlocked and in an as-new condition with its original packaging and box contents then you'll get a full refund. If this isn't the case then we'll charge for any damage or missing components, but you can still cancel your contract.

Cancel your contract (after the initial 14 days but before the end of your contract term)

Letting us know you want to cancel

If you want to cancel your contract after the 14 day cooling off period but before the end of your agreement, it's best to contact us via phone or Webchat so our Help Team can let you know any charges for cancelling your contract early.

What happens to your phone

If you took out a contract with a phone, that's fine, you'll be able to keep it because you'll have paid off the remainder of your agreement to be able to cancel early.

What charges will you incur?

If you decide to cancel after the 14 day cooling off period but before the end of your agreement, then you'll usually be charged for the remaining months on your contract. In other words, if you're on a £10 a month plan, and you want to cancel 5 months before the end of your agreement, then you'll be charged £50 to cancel early.

You can upgrade 90 days before your contract end date with Talkmobile so if you're looking to cancel early to save money, you might actually find it's cheaper to upgrade instead. You can also ask us about moving to a SIM Only plan which you might find cheaper and more flexible.

Cancel your contract (within 30 days of, or after your contract end date)

Letting us know you want to cancel

If you want to cancel your contract in the 30 days before it's due to end, or after the end date has passed, it's best to contact usvia phone or Webchat so our Help Team can make sure your agreement stops by the date you want it to.

This is because you need to give us 30 days notice that you want to cancel, even if your contract end date arrives sooner, or has already passed. We won't cancel unless you tell us so that you can carry on using your phone.

Your agreement will end 30 days after you've spoken to us to confirm you want to cancel.

What charges will you incur?

If your cancellation date lands after your original contract end date, then you won't incur any charges.

However we'll still need to take a couple of small payments after your contract end date. Don't worry, you won't be overcharged, it's just down to the way our billing cycle works.

Please leave your direct debit open for 2 to 3 months so we can close your account down correctly.

Leaving your direct debit open to pay your final bills

Please don’t cancel your direct debit until we've had a chance to take all the payments due on your account. This can take 2 or 3 months because of the way our billing cycle works.

If your direct debit's cancelled too soon, you might accidentally end up going into a bad debt process which we'd really like to avoid.

If you keep your direct debit open for 90 days after you've requested to cancel your contact then you should be fine.

This is because you’ll receive 3 further bills – one for the previous month, one for the month of your 30 day cancellation period, and one to mop up any outstanding out of allowance charges.

Bills received if you leave after your contract term has ended

If you leave us at the end of your contract, there will be no cancellation fees. You’ll receive three further bills:

  • one bill as normal
  • one bill within your 30-day cancellation window
  • one final bill to mop up any charges outside your monthly allowance

Bills received if you leave before your contract term has ended

If you haven’t completed your contract by the end of your 30-day cancellation notice period, you’ll need to pay the monthly charges for the time remaining in your contract.

You'll receive three further bills:

  • one bill as normal,
  • one bill within your 30-day cancellation window, which includes any early cancellation charges for the months remaining in your contract term
  • one final bill to mop up any charges outside your monthly allowance
