What is age-restricted content?

Your Talkmobile phone is automatically set to block access to all age restricted content.

Age restricted content is anything that has been classified as 18+ by the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC), or any 18+ sites that might contain any of the following:

  • Adult humour
  • Pornography
  • Alcohol/tobacco
  • Gambling
  • Violence/hate/racism
  • Weapons
  • Cult/occult
  • Illegal drugs
  • Personals/dating
  • Chat/instant messaging

We block this content in accordance with the OFCOM code of practise and UK and EU regulation in order to protect underage and vulnerable people from potentially harmful content.

The content block means that you can protect anyone under the age of 18 from seeing any potential adult content. This could be useful if you have children who have Talkmobile phones, or if anyone underage has access to your phone.

How to remove the block on age-restricted content

If you're a contract customer

If you’d like to remove the block on age-restricted content from your Talkmobile phone, you’ll need to get in touch with our Help Team online by using Webchat, or calling 5888 from your Talkmobile phone, or 0333 304 8064 from another phone (charges apply).

Pay as You Go customers

Because we don't hold any personal information for Pay As You Go customers, we can't remove your bar straightaway, because we'll first need you to prove that you’re over 18.

To do this, you’ll need to have a credit card that is registered in your name or your driving license or passport. We'll ask you for the details from one of these documents in order to run a quick identity check. Once we've verified that you're over 18, we'll remove the age-restricted block from your Pay As You Go phone.

How to change age-restricted content settings back to default

By default, you won’t be able to see age-restricted content on your Talkmobile phone. If you’ve disabled it at some point and would like to re-enable it, for example if you're giving your phone to an under-18, contact our Help Team, online by using Webchat, or calling 5888 from your Talkmobile phone, or 0333 304 8064 from another phone (charges apply). They'll be happy to change your settings back for you.
