Use data on your phone

Use data on 3G services

When you use your phone for things like browsing the Internet, or using Facebook or WhatsApp, your phone will start to use data. This allows your phone to send and receive information over our mobile network.

If you're unsure how we measure data and would like to know the difference between KB, MB and GB, take a look at our section on data.

If you've got a data allowance in your plan, whenever your phone uses the Talkmobile network to use data, you'll start to see your data allowance go down. Keep track of how much data you've used in My Account.

Use data on home broadband or Wi-Fi

If you've got a broadband hub at home, you can easily connect your phone to your Wi-Fi connection. This means that whenever your phone uses data it'll use your home broadband instead of the mobile network. That means you won't use up the data allowance in your plan.

You'll also be able to find loads of free Wi-Fi hotspots when you're out and about. This lets you connect to a public Wi-Fi connection so you don't have to worry about using up your data when you're accessing the internet or downloading Apps .
