• If you see an orange strip on the left side of your iPhone, that means the ringer is off, and it can prevent you from hearing the device ring when called. Switch it off
• If you have an iPhone 15 Pro or older, this is replaced by an Action Button. Press and hold it; by default, it will toggle (or untoggle) Silent Mode
• This switch acts as a master override for your iPhone's ringer. When it's activated, it can silence all calls, meaning you can miss out

• Swipe down from the top right of the screen to access the Control Center
• The Focus button is represented by a crescent moon 
• It may be set to Do Not Disturb, Work, or Focus by default; disable this setting, and it will allow calls, texts, and notifications through immediately

• Go to Settings > iPhone > Silence Unknown Callers and toggle this setting off
• When enabled, this feature silences calls from numbers that aren't saved in your phone, automatically sending certain numbers to voicemail

• Press the Volume Up button on the side of the Android phone. When the volume bar appears, tap the bell icon and ensure it's not muted or quiet
• Android separates media volume from ring volume, so you want to make sure the ring volume is up all the way, as it won't make a sound otherwise

• Swipe down twice from the top of the screen to enable the Quick Settings panel

• Do Not Disturb suppresses calls and auditory alerts, so deactivating it means your Android phone will ring again

• Check if Bedtime Mode is enabled, and disable it if so
