5G is the latest generation of mobile network technology, providing faster, more stable downloads and more reliable streaming - even in busy places. You'll need a 5G phone and be in a 5G coverage area. Our 5G network, provided by Vodafone, is growing all the time and currently covers over 140 locations around the UK. 

In areas without 5G right now, you can still use our 4G & 2G networks. Your 5G device will then automatically reconnect to the 5G network once you're back in a 5G area. 

With Wi-Fi Calling you can make and receive calls and texts in any location that has Wi-Fi network, even if there's no regular phone signal. Whether you're in a cafe or a house in the middle of the countryside, you'll still be able to stay connected. 

All Talkmobile customers now have Wi-Fi Calling enabled on the network. 

To be able to use Wi-Fi Calling you must: 

- Have a compatible handset 

- Have a compatible Software Version, that is: Android 12 or higher or iOS 15.4.1 or higher

- Enable Wi-Fi Calling on your handset. You can do so by selecting your handset make and model and following the steps on this link: Turn Wi-Fi Calling on or off

- Be connected to a working Wi-Fi network

A SIM card is a small computer chip that slots into a phone to connect it with the mobile network. It can be moved physically between any phones that are unlocked, transferring the phone number between devices. It can also store contact details and messages. 

SIM cards come in three sizes: Standard SIM, Micro SIM, and Nano SIM. Most mobile operators include all three versions on a single piece of plastic about the size of a credit card, so you can easily pop out the one that fits into your phone. 

A SIM Only plan is a monthly allowance of voice minutes, texts and data which you can use with any phone. It doesn't come with a new phone, so you will need to have your own device ready for your new SIM contract. When you buy one of your SIM only plans, you'll receive a SIM card which you can slot straight into your phone to connect to the network. SIM only plans are a cost-effective way of staying connected if you're happy to keep using your old phone.

Mobile phone contracts have two parts: 

- The price of the handset device itself, which is paid off by monthly instalments over the length of the contract;

- A monthly allowance of voice minutes, texts and data. 

A SIM Only plan only includes the monthly allowance of minutes, texts and data - it does not cover the cost of a new phone. This means, if you are purchasing a SIM Only contract, you will have to have your own device already. You will receive a SIM card which you can slot easily into your old phone to connect it to the network and start using your plan. You can bring your number with you too. It's easy to keep your number with a SIM only deal. You will need a code (known as a PAC) from your current network provider, which you can get by texting 'PAC' to 65075 using the number you want to keep. Then, give your PAC code to your new SIM provider so they can transfer your number across.

Mobile plans with unlimited data allow you to use the internet on your phone as much as you like. If you want to use your phone to watch videos, stream music or play games online an unlimited data plan could be a good option for you.

It is possible to cancel your SIM only contract, but please note that if you cancel while you are still within your agreed commitment period, you will be charged an early termination fee. 

To cancel your SIM only contract, you will need to request a PAC or STAC from your current provider and give it to your new provider. If you'd like to cancel without a PAC or STAC, you should contact your provider about how to do this. Details about your contract and any potential fees incurred will be sent to you when you request or view your PAC or STAC, or can be reviewed if you text the word INFO to 85075.
