All standard UK call charges outside of your plan’s allowance are charged for by the second with a 1 minute minimum call charge.
Due to the way our technology works, the start time of your calls made may differ slightly to the times reflected within your bill.
Features or apps on your phone are active when your phone is running, even if you’re not actively using them. Take a look at your phone guide for more information. Please be aware that any data usage will be charged, either by being deducted from your monthly allowances or by being separately billed. To find out more about data and how you can keep data costs down, take a look at our section on data costs.
If you’re sending texts over 160 characters long, we’ll sometimes charge for them as two or more separate texts, displayed on the bill as being sent at the same time.
What is inadvertent roaming?
Inadvertent roaming occurs if your device connects to a network in a different country to the one you are located in. This could happen if you travel near an international border such as that between Turkey and Greece or between North and South Cyprus. It can even occur between the south coast of England and France. Inadvertent roaming can cause roaming charges which are higher than you were expecting.
What to do if you incur unexpected charges from inadvertent roaming
If this happens, please call us on 5888 (0044 333 304 8064 if you’re abroad) to discuss the issue with our care team.
How can I prevent inadvertent roaming?
We’ll send you a message when you connect to a network in another country. If this isn’t the country you’re travelling in, there are a number of steps you can take to prevent yourself from incurring unexpected charges.
- Review your Talkmobile Spend Limit
- Turn data roaming off on your phone. This can usually be done in your mobile network settings. Manually select a network for the destination you are in. More information on how to do this can be found here. Please note, if you manually select a network you will then need to choose again each time you visit a new destination.
Inadvertent roaming in Northern Ireland
To minimise the impact of inadvertent roaming on the border between Northern Ireland and The Republic of Ireland, we’ve made roaming in Ireland available at no extra cost for all customers, up to your fair use limit . If you have any concerns, speak to our care team by calling 5888.
