How to switch over to Talkmobile from another network

Keep your number when switching

If you want to keep your existing number when switching over to us from another network, all you need is a PAC (Port Authorisation Code).

Follow these 3 simple steps:

  1. Request PAC

    A PAC code is easy to get from your existing network provider by sending 'PAC' to 65075 using the number you want to keep. The term ‘PAC’ sounds strange but your old network provider will understand what you mean. The code you get will be valid for 30 days.

  2. Send the PAC to us

    Make sure you have your new Talkmobile SIM Card and you have popped it in your phone. Then find out the temporary Talkmobile phone number by typing *#100# and then Call (usually a green button on most phones).

    Have your PAC to hand and head on over to talkmobile.co.uk/keepmynumber. You’ll get the option to pick the date that your number moves over.

  3. All done!

    We’ll use the PAC to bring across your phone number across from your old provider. Before you know it you’ll be dialling the world from your new Talkmobile phone, using that trusted number you’ve had for years.

What is a PAC?

A PAC is a Porting Authority Code. Give us this if you want to bring your current mobile number with you to Talkmobile.

Switching to Talkmobile without your existing number

If you want to switch to Talkmobile from another network and you are really sure that you don't need to keep your existing number, all you'll need is a STAC (Switch Termination Authorisation Code). 

Follow these 3 simple steps:

  1. Request STAC

    Like a PAC, you can request a STAC code from your existing provider. Just be sure you don’t want to keep your number as once a STAC is used the old number cannot be retrieved. The code will be valid for 30 days.

  2. Send the STAC to us

    Make sure you have your new Talkmobile SIM Card and you have popped it in your phone. Then find out the new Talkmobile phone number by typing *#100# and then Call (usually a green button on most phones).

    Have your STAC to hand and head on over to talkmobile.co.uk/keepmynumber. You’ll get the option to pick the date.

  3. All done!

    Once your STAC completes then your existing provider cancels your old contract and your old number is deleted. You can use your fresh new Talkmobile sim card straight away.

What is a STAC?

A ‘service termination authorisation code’ (or STAC code), allows you to cancel your mobile number with your previous network when you switch suppliers. They are offered free of charge and are valid for 30 days.

Are you leaving us?

Sorry to hear you're thinking of leaving. If you're looking for a great value offer, start an online chat with us or call us on 5888 from your Talkmobile phone or 0333 304 8064 from any other phone. You can also call us and ask us to terminate your contract. If you are not transferring provider, you will not need a PAC or STAC. We will terminate the mobile number and stop billing you for this number. Please note, when you cancel your account, your mobile number will terminate, and you will not be able to get this mobile number back. If you want to keep your mobile number, please request a PAC.

  • Thinking of leaving us?

    If you are considering leaving us, there’s a few things you need to know.

    To cancel your contract, you can request your PAC/STAC as below. A PAC will allow you to keep your number when you move, while a STAC allows you to move network without keeping your number. Alternatively, if you’d like to cancel without a PAC or STAC or just need some help, you can contact us via the chat now button on the right or call us on 5888 and we’ll be happy to help.

  • Requesting a PAC/STAC or Switching Info via text

    - Requesting a PAC (to cancel and keep your number) – please text the word PAC and the last 2 digits of your account PIN to 65075. You will be sent your PAC and info on any Early Termination Fee via return text message

    - Requesting a STAC (to cancel without keeping your number) – please text the word STAC and the last 2 digits of your account PIN to 75075. You will be sent your STAC and info on any Early Termination Fee via return text message. Please note, using your STAC will delete your mobile number and you will not be able to recover it. If you’d like to keep your number, please request a PAC

    - Requesting Switching Info only (details of any applicable Early Termination Fee) – please text the word INFO to 85075. You will be sent your Switching Info via return text message.

  • Requesting a PAC/STAC or Switching Info via My Account

    If you have an online account with us, you can request or view your PAC, STAC or Switching Info online at any time. Simply log in and navigate to the “Switching” section.

  • Requesting a PAC/STAC or Switching Info via our Customer Care Team

    You can call 5888 from your Talkmobile phone or 0333 304 8064 from any other phone, or you can click the orange "chat now" button on the right.

  • Early Termination fees

     If you cancel while still within your agreed commitment period, you will be subject to an Early Termination Fee. This will be communicated to you when you cancel or request your PAC/STAC or Switching Info. If you are out of commitment, there will be no Early Termination Fee to be paid.
